We believe that building technology responsibly means being clear about your footprint, honest about your limitations, and deliberate about the choices you make along the way.
This page sets out how Calibrate approaches the environment, AI, data, and the wellbeing of the people our platform serves.
A People Operating System has a responsibility to operate responsibly.
Calibrate is infrastructure for people management. That puts us at the intersection of technology and human experience every day, and we take that position seriously.
We believe responsible operation is not about making pledges. It is about making decisions: how we build, where we host, how we handle data, and how we treat the people our platform serves.
What follows is our account of how we think about those responsibilities, covering the environment, AI, data stewardship, and the social impact at the heart of what we do.
Six areas we take seriously
Infrastructure with a low footprint
Calibrate runs on AWS infrastructure hosted in the UK and EU. AWS has committed to powering its operations with 100% renewable energy and is on track to meet that target. We do not operate our own data centres, and our platform is designed to be efficient by default, not resource-heavy.
Deliberate use of AI
We use AI to power features like personalised action plans and the Calibrate Assistant. We are deliberate about which AI capabilities we deploy, choosing partners with strong published commitments on energy use and responsible development. Our AI footprint is proportionate to the value it delivers, and we intend to keep it that way.
A distributed team
Our team works remotely across the UK. We do not maintain a large office estate, and business travel is minimal and intentional. This is simply how we have always operated, and it means our direct carbon footprint is low by design.
Data handled with care
We hold customer data only for as long as it is needed, stored securely on encrypted infrastructure in the UK and EU. We do not sell data. We do not share it between customer organisations. Data ownership stays with you, and our privacy and data practices are documented and available on request.
People at the centre
Calibrate exists to help organisations treat their people with greater clarity, fairness, and consistency. How an organisation develops, manages, and holds itself accountable to its people is one of the most consequential decisions a business makes. That is not incidental to our product. It is the point of it.
A long-term commitment
Responsibility is not a destination. It is a standard we hold ourselves to as we grow. We are formalising our approach to environmental and social governance over time, and we will update this page as we do. If you have specific questions about our practices, we are happy to discuss them directly.
Helping organisations manage their people fairly, clearly and consistently is itself a social good.
Role clarity reduces ambiguity and unfairness. Consistent expectations protect employees from arbitrary management decisions. Structured development gives people genuine paths to grow. These are not soft outcomes. They are tangible improvements to the working lives of the people inside the organisations that run on Calibrate.
The S in ESG is often the quietest. For us, it is the foundation everything else is built on.
